The Fall - Genesis Week 2

Like last week, there are some other chapters we'll be considering this week that also talk about the themes and theology of the readings from Genesis. As before, since my study of these chapters is not as extensive as my studies in Genesis right now, I present them here simply as reflections.

Day 4 - Romans 5

We need to be reconciled to God.

Reconciliation to God is through faith in Jesus.

We are reconciled to God through Jesus’ death, saved through his life. This is worth rejoicing for!

Sin entered the world through the sin of Adam. All humans are now subject to death because of sin.

All who have faith in Jesus are sons of God, part of his family instead of Adam’s.

Lots of people suffer the consequence of Adam allowing sin to enter the world.

Though all have sinned, the righteousness of only one man, Jesus Christ, allows many to be reconciled and saved.

God has an abundant provision of grace for those who would receive it.

Through Jesus’ righteousness, many are justified, which means they are declared as righteous as Jesus, as though they had never sinned.

Grace reigns in the righteousness of Jesus.

Day 5 - 1 Corinthians 15

The hope of our faith is in the resurrection of Jesus. Because he was made alive, we also can be made alive. In our sinful condition, we are as good as dead. Because of Jesus, we can now live in the full and eternal life that God intends.

Because of Jesus’ resurrection, we have a hope and a future. Without it, our life exists for no more than what we gain in the moment. With it, we have hope that we are being remade in the image of Jesus. Our earthly nature is dying and will be shed in its’ entirety. In Christ, our life transcends death.

Jesus’ victory over death has become ours.

All we do now, we do in and for Jesus, and in him we have victory that is eternal.
