Through the New Testament Reading - Romans 11-16
Ephesians 2
Ephesians 2:6-7
And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:8-10
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:14
For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility
Day 4 – Key Verses Engaged
In tomorrow's directed journalling, I'll be considering and writing about how I'll put these verses into practice. This is how I am challenged.
These verses are not about me. The actor in each case, is God. I am the reactor. Even in verse 14, in talking about human relationships (literally - Jews and Gentiles), it is God who has done the work.
This morning, my thoughts and prayers are on surrender, humility, and grace. Grace is God's. Surrender and humility are mine. There is no boasting.
Now writing at pirate-pastor.blogspot.com
Engaging ancient scripture in alternative community.
Wrestling in and with community, empire, and freedom.
Approaching the Bible humbly, allowing it to read me.
These notes are old, but I'm keeping the blog up
mostly to preserve the entries on Genesis, for now.
They are being rewritten for a book, tentatively titled West of Eden.
This blog is dedicated to my church.
